Privacy policy

Our privacy promises
Recycle Friends is built for children, so privacy is a design constraint, not an afterthought:
- The only data we collect is limited diagnostics — crash reports and usage statistics that help us fix bugs and improve the app.
- We collect nothing about your child’s real-world identity — no name, contact details, precise location, photos, microphone, or advertising ID.
- No third-party ads, no behavioural profiling, no selling, no cross-app tracking. We never use data to show targeted advertising to your child, build a behavioural profile, track across other companies’ apps, or sell to anyone.
- No push notifications. We don’t send notifications from a server; the app currently doesn’t request the notification permission.
- A grown-up can manage or turn off diagnostics at any time in the settings.
Who we are
Recycle Friends is published by Mousy Click (the “we”/“us” in this policy). For the purposes of data-protection law (including the EU and UK GDPR), the controller of the personal data described here is Mousy Click.

What this policy covers
This policy covers the Recycle Friends app and the website at recyclefriends.mousyclick.com. It does not cover third-party services that have their own privacy policies (such as your app store).
What we collect
The app has no account and no login. Currently, the data involved is:
- Limited diagnostics & usage analytics. To find crashes and understand which features are used, we collect crash reports (with stack traces), the device model and OS version, screen size and density, language/locale, the app version, and in-app events (e.g. which screens and mini-games are opened, and how long is spent in each part of the app). To do this, our diagnostics tools use a per-install identifier — a random token generated for each app installation, automatically reset if the app is uninstalled or its data is cleared — together with your device’s IP address. This identifier is not derived from any hardware, device, or advertising ID, and we do not use any of this to identify or contact your child — only for internal operations (fixing bugs and improving the app). It is pseudonymous: we cannot link it to a real child, though it does distinguish one installation from another. How it’s processed differs by platform (see “Platform differences”).
- Subscription status. Payments are handled by your app store (Google Play / Apple) — we never see your card or billing details. To unlock premium features and restore them across devices, purchase records (the product bought, the transaction date, and the store receipt) are processed by our subscription provider, RevenueCat, under a non-identifying, app-generated identifier that is not linked to your child and carries no advertising ID.
- On-device progress. Your child’s discoveries, stickers, and garden are saved only on the device. We cannot see them; they are never uploaded.
- Support email. Support is intended for grown-ups. If you email us, we receive your message and email address and keep them only as long as needed to respond and handle your request.
Platform differences for diagnostics
- Android (Google Play): diagnostics are processed by Google Firebase (Crashlytics + Analytics), configured for child-directed apps — advertising features and the advertising ID are disabled. Permitted under Google Play’s Families requirements.
- Apple (App Store, Kids Category): Apple does not permit third-party analytics in the Kids Category, so on iOS we currently use only Apple’s own first-party diagnostics and include no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. If this ever changes, we will update this policy first.
- Web (browser preview): the web version uses privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics — Cloudflare Web Analytics plus our own aggregate event counts — to understand how the preview is used (page visits, approximate visitor counts, referring sites, and which features are opened), with no cookies, nothing stored on your device, no cross-site tracking, no advertising, and no per-user or per-child identifier. It contains no crash reporting, no Firebase, and no third-party advertising SDKs, and offers no purchases. The site is served by Cloudflare, whose standard server logs (including IP addresses) are processed only to deliver and secure the site. If we ever add anything beyond this, we will update this policy first.
What we do NOT collect
- No name, contact details, precise (GPS) location, contacts, microphone, camera, or photo-library data.
- No advertising identifiers, and no third-party advertising or ad-targeting SDKs.
- No behavioural profile of your child, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking.
- No data is ever sold, rented, or shared for third-party advertising.
Our diagnostics tools may use an IP address to derive approximate location (such as country or region) for technical purposes; we do not use this to identify or track your child, and we do not collect precise location.
We do not track you
We do not track your child across other companies’ apps or websites, and we do not link the data we collect with data from third parties for advertising or profiling. Because we collect no tracking data, browser “Do Not Track” and Global Privacy Control signals do not change what we collect.
Cookies and website data
The website at recyclefriends.mousyclick.com is intended for grown-ups, not children. It uses no advertising cookies and no third-party advertising trackers. We may use strictly necessary cookies and basic, privacy-respecting measurement of which pages are visited, and we will update this section if our use of cookies or analytics changes.
Permissions the app uses
To work, the app uses two technical permissions — neither is used to read your child’s personal files or to collect personal information:
- Network / internet access — to download in-game videos, storybooks, songbooks, and content expansions from our content delivery network, to check subscription status with the app store, and to send the diagnostics described above. Downloading content shares your device’s IP address with the delivery network to route the files; it is not used to track your child. The core play experience also works offline once content is downloaded.
- Storage — to save downloaded content (videos, storybooks, songs, and expansions) in the app’s own space on the device, so it plays smoothly and doesn’t re-download every time. The app does not read your other files.
How we use what we collect
- Diagnostics & analytics — only to fix crashes, understand which features are used, and improve the app. For EU/EEA and UK users we rely on our legitimate interests in providing a stable, well-designed product, in line with applicable data-protection law; under COPPA this is treated as “support for internal operations.”
- Subscription status — to unlock paid features for entitled users (basis: performance of a contract).
- Support email — to answer your question (basis: legitimate interest / your consent in contacting us).
We do not use any of this data for third-party advertising, behavioural profiling, or targeted marketing to children.
Automated decisions and profiling
We do not use your or your child’s data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
How we share data
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data, and we do not share it for third-party advertising. The third parties involved in running the app are:
- Google Firebase (Crashlytics & Analytics) — Android only — processes diagnostics for us under its own privacy terms and the Google Privacy Policy / Firebase terms, configured for children (no ad personalization, no advertising ID).
- Google Play / Apple App Store — billing, payment processing, subscriptions, and app distribution, under the Google Play Terms / Apple Media Services Terms.
- RevenueCat — manages subscriptions and validates purchases for us, under the RevenueCat Privacy Policy. It receives purchase records tied to a non-identifying, app-generated identifier — not to your child’s identity — and we send it no advertising identifier.
- Cloudflare — hosts this website and delivers downloadable content, under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
If we are legally compelled to, we may have to disclose the limited data described above (for example, support correspondence).
International data transfers
Diagnostics (on Android, via Google Firebase) and subscription records (via RevenueCat) may be processed on servers in the United States. Where required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards as provided in the relevant provider’s terms and applicable law. On-device data and support email are not transferred to any server beyond what is described here.
Children’s privacy (COPPA · GDPR-K · UK AADC)
This app is designed for and directed to children (under 13, for COPPA purposes). Accordingly, the app:
- Collects no contact details or real-world identity from a child — only the limited identifiers needed to support internal operations (bug-fixing and app improvement), which COPPA permits without verifiable parental consent.
- Has advertising features and the advertising ID disabled, shows no advertising, and performs no behavioural profiling.
- Currently has no user-to-user communication, chat, or social features and no open web browsing inside the play experience.
- Gates any purchase, external link, or grown-up settings behind a parental gate (a simple task a young child can’t complete by accident). The parental gate runs entirely on the device and collects no personal information.
- Lets a grown-up switch off all diagnostics collection in settings.
If a child contacts us directly (for example, by email), we use that contact information only to respond once, if needed, and then delete it as soon as reasonably possible; we encourage parents or guardians to contact us on a child’s behalf. If we ever introduce a feature that would collect personal information from a child, we would first add a verifiable-parental-consent step. If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child, email [email protected] and we will investigate it promptly.
App store compliance
- Google Play Families: the app is designed to meet the Families policy — any SDK used is configured for children, with advertising and the advertising ID disabled.
- Apple Kids Category: the app is designed to comply with Apple’s Kids Category rules — no third-party analytics or advertising, external links and purchases behind a parental gate, and no tracking.
Your choices and rights
- Turn off data collection — a grown-up can disable diagnostics in the in-app settings; the app then stops sending analytics and crash reports to our providers.
- Remove all app data — uninstall the app, or clear its storage in your device settings. This erases your child’s on-device progress completely.
- Manage a subscription — view, change, or cancel it in Google Play or Apple Subscriptions.
- There is no account to delete — the app has no login or server profile.
- Diagnostics data — because the per-install identifier is not linked to your child’s identity, we cannot locate the specific records belonging to one child to delete them on request. Instead, you control this data by turning off diagnostics (stops collection immediately) and uninstalling (resets the per-install identifier).
- Support correspondence — email [email protected] to access or delete any email you’ve sent us.
- EU/EEA & UK residents — for any data we hold that identifies you (in practice, your support correspondence), you have the rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object to processing, and to complain to your data protection authority.
- US residents (California / CPRA and other state laws) — for personal information we hold that identifies you, you have the rights to know, access, delete, and correct it, and to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing”; we do not sell or share personal information.
Data retention
- Diagnostics & analytics — held by our analytics provider for debugging and improving the app. This data does not identify your child, and a grown-up can switch off collection at any time in settings.
- On-device data — kept on your device until you delete it (we never receive it).
- Subscription records — held by the app store, not by us.
- Support email — kept only as long as needed to resolve your request, then deleted; removed sooner on request.
Data security
We collect very little, and nothing the app collects identifies your child, so there is no profile about your child to expose. Diagnostics are sent over encrypted connections, and we protect the limited data involved — including any support email you send us — with reasonable, standard safeguards.
Links to other services
The app and this website may link to other services (for example, your app store or a support page). Those services have their own privacy policies; this policy does not cover them.
Changes to this policy
We will revise this page when our practices change and update the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be highlighted, and where the law requires it we will seek consent before applying them.
Complaints and how to reach us
For any privacy question, request, or complaint, contact [email protected]. EU/EEA and UK residents may also lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.
